Our Story
At nearly all facets of our human experience - physical, financial, emotional, ideological, spiritual - energy is being asked of, demanded, at ever higher quantities and at exceedingly greater intervals as our communities and societies move forward.
We felt the resounding need to put action to idea, to move toward living alongside our community with the freedom of independently managing as much of our energy as we have the skills to. Recognizing and being moved by this has led us to an integral part our experience here - the application of one of the most renewable energy gathering resources, widely available, efficient and affordable - solar energy. Self-sufficiency, or the pursuit of it, is usually linked with "off-grid" living. Instead, we say this is a platform for further energy independence and community resiliency. It is a node to express and share knowledge of how to take back the energy that is rightfully y(ours) - to refrain from needlessly leaking it away to one perceived obligation or another. When we can move from daily surviving into thriving, our energy becomes ours again and we reap the rewards of a life free from confinement. Let us share in that together. |
The application of the ideals of Permaculture has forever changed our perceptions of not only how we can interact cohesively within nature - working toward positive environmental change - to be a node within the evolution of the human energetic spirit.
Earth Embassy is the evolution of these ideals combined with the use, savings, and maintenance of the energy systems all around us - from the systems of the home site to food production, to "waste" management. Currently we are attentive to: - Passive systems which retain energy for later use. - A steady and thoughtful reduction of "human waste" into further use. - Insulation and venting systems which require little to no electrical input to provide the basic needs of the human. Gone are the days of infinite resources, a wide un-mapped world, the thought of little to no connection to the community that surrounds us at home and around the world. Now we must look at what energy IS. We must see the disparency between the simplicity of what we need to thrive and the high cost of what we have been sold on as necessary for our basic survival. There is an illusion at play that begins where each of us gives away our energy. Join us to exchange and learn more with each other.
